Can you take the base of the blender off? I don't ...

Can you take the base of the blender off? I don't mean to blade piece. I know how to remove the blade section using the cap that sits in the top of the blender. I want to remove the whole base as my smoothies have crept in the cracks between the glass and the plastic base - I can't clean it properly and it smells.
