Which is better for baking convection or bake? Al...

Which is better for baking convection or bake? Also, I see that on the oven controls, there's a cakes breads function which seems to be for regular bake. Why would you have convection bake if when you bake a cake you use the cakes breads function that operates with regular bake? I'm confused.
