On my older (maybe 10 yrs old) crock pot, the temp settings are "off" "1" and "2". I don't remember if "Low" is 1 or 2!

4 #1 is low - #2 is high - auto shift starts the food at high and brings it down to low automatically after it reaches the highest temperature
