The oven pilot lights up as per normal but the bur...

The oven pilot lights up as per normal but the burners do not fire up so I cannot cook at all. Sudden fault, was ok yesterday, but fortunately my left hand oven still works. I assumed a bi-metal strip wpild normally heat up and allow the gas to match a chosen number on the setting.
