5 There is really not much in it. It said it needs electricity - so I plugged it in. It said not to use underwater - so I didn't. So it said to raise the lever, stick the can in and lower the lever. I did all this. It said at this point it will open the can, but it doesn't. The cutter is actually contacting the rim of the can. It is not making contact with the flat surface of the lid as it should. This prevents the lever from making contact with the little button on top of the can opener; which starts the motor. From doing a visual on the opener from the side; there seems to be less than 1/32 of an inch clearance between the cutter and the gear wheel on the motor shaft which turns against the side of the can - thus spinning the can. This clearance does not seem to be large enough to me. All this stuff is not in the manual. Thanks Dave Cain davecain@yahoo.com

0 This can opener is brand new and has never opened the first can. I bought it - put it on the counter - pressed the handle and it seemed to work. When my girlfriend was trying to use it she said that it will not open the can. It seems that the part that cuts the can is not far enough away from the edge. It is hitting the rim of the can.
