4 The manual does not solve the problem...that's precisely why I asked the question in the first place. However, upon searching elsewhere, I have discovered that the dial reads clockwise, left to right: OFF, 1= LOW, 2=High, WARM. The results of this search have saved my bacon (which is included in the beans that I am in the process of baking. I'm sure that this concrete information will help others who have run into the same problem.
