Problem with dishwasher: After pressing power and ...

Problem with dishwasher: After pressing power and start, the "smartauto" and "normal" icons are flashing, instead of the programmed "heavy" and "sanitize". The dishwasher does not start, just continues to flash. Please advise how to proceed.
