SMH7187 has a stainless steel vent cover across the top front of the microwave which does not allow for the charcoal filter to be installed. Please help us determine how it should go in once both screws have been removed. Thank you.

5 I had a problem getting front vent off as well. Look in the directions and it says to open door and slide the vent grill to the left. It pops right off. Good thing I did not force it. Cause it slides right off. or is that (Left) off

5 I have a similar model, had the same problem, and sliding it to the left worked for me as well. This wasn't at all mentioned in my manual. Pretty frustrating problem so thanks for the solution!

5 I don't know if the location of the screws on the SMH7185 are the same as the 87 but on mine, the screws are both set back from the front by 1 5/8". The left screw is 3 1/2" from the left side and the right screw is 6 1/4 from the right side. I hope this helps.

4 My overhead cabinet covers the two screws that I need to remove in order to change the charcoal filter. I would like to drill two holes in the bottom of my cabinet so I have access to the screws so I can then change my filter. The only problem is I don't know the exact location of the two screws. Can anyone measure the distance from the outside edge of the microwave to the screws and send me the information? Thank you.
