Question About Sanyo Freezer MDF-536D

I work in a lab and we currently have no manual on an upright Sanyo Medical Freezer medical reference number MDF-U536D serial number 40608305. the upper freezer part is at -40 but it has developed a heavy ice build up and needs to be defrosted and I don't know how to do that. If you could give me any suggestions I would really appreciate that.
