My ice maker is not making ice. I have had a problem with the freezer icing up. I replaced the timer, defrost coil and thermostat. Life was good. Until.... I started getting a big ice dam at the bottom collecting trough. Further investigation, the flexible heater cable that keeps the condesation liquid all the way to the drain tube, failed. So far, have not found the replacement flex heater cable (anybody can help me find it?) In the meantime, I have to do a manual defrost with a hairdryer every few months when the ice builds up. Now, the ice maker quit, after the collecting basket filled up with water and froze solid!! Did a defrost, as there was a lot of ice in the back. Restarted the freezer and still, No ice maker activity. I also notice that the air suction from the freezer cabinet after opening and closing the door is not happening. I am tihnking this might be a problem with the thermostat in the I/M (did I fry it with the hair dryer?) or the solenoid went on the water line, but I am wondering what the meaning is of this loss of air suction. IS there a connection here? Can anyone explain this air suction thing? NEver owned a freezer that did that. THanks in advance.
