Beaters collide with each other. Both beaters can'...

Beaters collide with each other. Both beaters can't be inserted together. Need to be able to move one of the other of the internal gears/receptors so that blades will overlap and not collide. Can this be performed at home, or does the unit need to be shipped in for repair/replacement?
