I have a Sunbeam Mixmaster (Legacy Edition/Heritag...

I have a Sunbeam Mixmaster (Legacy Edition/Heritage Series) and I'm having trouble with getting it to "release" to put the "head" back down after removing the beaters. When I'm pushing the release button it took many tries and finally went back into the down position. Any ideas of what I could do to try to fix this problem? Thank you!!!
