I have the mis-fortune of owning a Tappan range and yesterday found out that the reason my white oven was burnt from the self cleaning oven is because of a malfunction of the oven itself. Caused when the oven door does not shut completely. - Now I know why I have the ugliest range in the neighborhood. 13 years of embarrassment. When I get the opportunity and have the funds available I will be replacing it with ANYTHING but a Tappan. Good thing the name is on the range where all can see- good advertisement of what not to buy.
