0 If this disposal stops working, shut the switch OFF and check if the blade disc will turn freely using something like a broom handle. Do NOT put your hand in it! Try turning it clock-wise first. If it doesn't spin it's probably overloaded. To free it up you should now try turning it counter-clockwise. It may be a bit tricky and may take a little force but using the end of the broom handle you need to pry against one of the blades in the counter-clockwise direction. Do this until it turns freely. You will then need to reset the Overload Switch. It is UNDERNEATH the Disposal underneath your sink. It is a red button directly in the center on the bottom. Press it in...you'll know if it was tripped because it will "click" and stay in. Run your water and turn the Disposal on. Be prepared to shut it right back off if immediately jams up. If it just makes a slight "buzzing" sound it's probably still jammed so you need to shut the switch off and will have to check again if it will turn. BE SURE NEVER TO STICK ANYTHING IN THE DISPOSAL WITH THE SWITCH ON!!! ESPECIALLY AFTER YOU'VE RESET THE OVERLOAD SWITCH!
