I have a whirlpool dishwasher 4501/5 IT FLASHES 4 ...

I have a whirlpool dishwasher 4501/5 IT FLASHES 4 times . It drains and makes all the right noises but does not fill up. I have cleaned the sump with boiling water and a toothbrush but still isn't working can anyone help?
