Whirlpool Dishwasher Series 920. Had to take door ...

Whirlpool Dishwasher Series 920. Had to take door apart to fix a problem. Now the detergent door doesn't open. I can see how it is suppose to attach to a long arm but can't get it to attach when I put the white cover back on the inside. Any tricks as how to attach the lever for the detergent dispenser.
