Question About Whirlpool Trash Compactor TC8700X
Not shutting off when finished compacting...

The trash compactor will compact but when it's in the highest position it just thumps like it's stuck and I have to turn it to off. I've cleaned out all excess paper that was stuck and don't see any other things in the way. What could it be?

1 I have the same problem as stated by someone in the "Member Discussion" posting (see below). Has this question bee answered? Where do I find the answer? Do I call Whirlpool? Is there a way I can find out who made the comment and when and what the answer was? The trash compactor will compact but when it's in the highest position it just thumps like it's stuck and I have to turn it to off. I've cleaned out all excess paper that was stuck and don't see any other things in the way. What could it be?
