HOW TO MAKE ESPRESSO
Before you start using your espresso maker, make sure you have all the
necessary internal pieces and that they are put together correctly.
IMPORTANT: Before using your espresso maker for the first time, wash
all parts including the feed tube with warm water.
1.Make sure the espresso maker is cold and open it by holding the
water container (I) in one hand and turning the upper vessel (C) anti-
clockwise, i.e. to the left, with the other.
2.Take out the coffee funnel (F) and fill the water container (I) with
fresh water to the line (G) under the safety valve (H). TIP: We recom-
mend you use fresh, soft water. Very hard or salty water negatively
affects the flavour of the coffee. IMPORTANT: Never use the espresso
maker with an empty water container (I) and never use warm water
to speed up the coffee-making process.
3.Put the coffee funnel (F) into the water container (I).
4.Fill the coffee funnel (F) with coffee powder without pressing the
powder. Put small quantities of coffee into the coffee funnel (F), or do
so using a spoon, to avoid using too much coffee powder which could
then spill out. Spread the coffee powder evenly and dust any super-
fluous coffee powder away from the edge of the coffee funnel (F).
IMPORTANT: Only use top-quality coffee powder, with a medium
grind, that is particularly recommended for espresso makers.
5.Put the espresso maker back together again by holding the water con-
tainer (I) in one hand and turning the upper vessel (C) clockwise, i.e.
to the right, with the other. Do not press the handle.
6.Place the espresso maker on the heat source. The espresso maker is
suitable for use on ceramic stove tops, electric hobs and gas stoves.
The 10617 model is also suitable for use on induction stoves.
IMPORTANT: If your source of heat is a gas stove, the flame must not
be able to protrude from under the edge of the water container.
7.Take the espresso maker from the stove as soon as the brewing pro-
cedure is completed and all the water has risen into the upper vessel
(C).
WARNING: When hot, only touch the plastic parts of the espresso maker.
Not suitable for extracts or herbal teas.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Whenever you want to clean the espresso maker, wait until it has
cooled off.
Only use water to clean the device. Never use scouring agents or steel
wool as these damage the surface.
Regularly clean the inside of the feed tube (B).
Regularly check the coffee funnel (F) and the seal (E). If they are
showing signs of wear and tear or damage, replace them. Only use
original parts.
Check every now and again that the holes in the filter plate (D) are
not blocked. If they are, clean the holes with a needle.
Never put the espresso maker back together again when it is wet.
Keep the parts separate.
