II Making coffee
Fill the tank with fresh cold water, press the swing-filter
push button to open the filter basket, insert a No. 4
paper filter, add ground coffee, close the filter basket,
and place the carafe on the hotplate. Switch on the
coffeemaker (manual or automatic operation) as
described above.
For greater convenience, when filling with or disposing
of ground coffee, the filter basket can be easily taken off
its hinge. The drip-stop feature prevents dripping when
the carafe is removed to pour a cup before brewing is
finished. The carafe should be immediately returned to
the hotplate to prevent the filter basket from overflowing.
Brewing time per cup: approximately one minute. The
amount of brewed coffee in the carafe will be below initial
filling level as water is retained by ground coffee during
the brewing cycle.
III Cleaning
Always unplug the appliance before cleaning. Never
clean the appliance under running water, or immerse it in
water; only wipe it with a damp cloth.
This coffeemaker features a stainless steel filter basket
that should only be cleaned with a damp cloth.
You may use dishwashing liquid. Do not use abrasive
cleaners, nor clean it in a dishwasher.
IV Decalcifying
If you have hard water and you use your coffeemaker
without a water filter, it has to be decalcified regularly.
When using the water filter cartridge and exchanging it
regularly, you ordinarily will not need to decalcify.
However, if your coffeemaker takes longer than usual to
brew, it should be decalcified.
Important:
Replace the water filter with the space com-
pensator during any decalcification procedure.
You can use a commercially available decalcifying
agent not affecting aluminium.
Follow the instructions of the manufacturer of the
decalcifying agent.
Repeat the procedure as many times as necessary in
order to reduce the brewing time per cup to a normal
level.
Allow the maximum amount of fresh cold water to run
through at least twice to clean the coffeemaker after
decalcification.
