First select LOW or HIGH power using the
slide switch. Next select a speed
button. The blender will run until the
OFF button is pushed.
The OFF button is also the C
RUSH/ PULSE
button. This allows instant control of
blending action. The blender runs only
as long as you hold the button.
The Clean function
The CLEAN function should only be used
to rinse the blender between batches
of processing the same food. When the
processing of a single type of food is
finished, the blender should be
disassembled and thoroughly cleaned
as instructed in “How to Clean.”
To use the CLEAN function, pour 2 cups
(500 ml) warm water in jar and add 1
drop liquid dishwashing detergent. Run
the blender on CLEAN for 10 seconds.
Discard soapy water. Rinse with clean
water.
This function is not a substitute for
regular cleaning as instructed in “How
to Clean.” This function should never
be used when blending any mixture
containing eggs, milk, or any other
dairy products, meats, or seafood.
Crushing Ice
To get ice that is almost the consistency
of snow, follow these guidelines.
• Ice must come directly from the
freezer. Ice that has been stored in
an ice chest or ice bucket has already
started to melt. That small amount of
moisture will not make good dry,
crushed ice.
• Crush 3 to 4 cups (750 ml to 1 L) of
ice at a time.
• Use the CRUSH/PULSE button. Press and
release the button allowing the
blender to come to a complete stop
before pressing again. This allows the
chunks of ice to fall on the blades
for consistent crushing of the ice.
NOTE: Continue to pulse until you
cannot hear chunks of ice hitting the
blender jar, or about 30 to 45 seconds.
• If you are crushing ice with a liquid,
for a drink or other recipe, there
should not be more ice than liquid
for best results. Equal amounts of
ice and liquid work well, for example
2 cups (500 ml) ice and 2 cups (500
ml) liquid. Do not try and blend 2
cups (500 ml) ice and 1 cup (250 ml)
liquid. An air pocket is created around
the blades and prevents all the ice
from being crushed.
