Checkthe Water Temperature
Theentering water must be at least 120°Fand
not more than 150°F,for effectivecleaning and to
prevent dish damage. Check the water temperature
with a candy or meat thermometeE Turn on the
hot water faucet nearest the dishwasher,place
the thermometer in a glassand let the water
run continuouslu into the glass until the temperature
stops rising.
Adjust the maximum/minimum temperature of the
water heater if necessaruto deliver water at the
proper temperature.
UseJet-Dry®RinseAgent
Jet-Dry ®or Cascade Crystal Cleare rinseagents remove spots and prevent new film buildup on dishes,
glasses,flatware, cookware and plastic.
Filling the Dispenser
Fillthe rinse agent dispenser until it reachesthe bottom of
lipinsidethe opening. Replacecap.
Tocheck if rinse agent is needed,remove the cap and look
into the dispenseE
A full dispensershould lost about one month.
tf the rinseagent spills,wipe up the excess.
Proper Useof Detergent
Useonlu detergent specificallu made for use in
dishwashers.Cascade®and Electrasol®Automatic
Dishwashing Detergents have been approved for use
in all GEdishwashers. Keep uour detergent fresh and
dry. Don't put powder detergent into the dispenser
until Uou'rereadu to wash dishes.
Theamount of detergent to use depends on whether
your water ishard or soft.With hard water,you need
extra detergent. With soft water, you need less
detergent.
Protectuour dishesand dishwasher by contacting
uour water department and asking how hard uour
water is.Twelveor more grains is extremely hard
wateEA water softener is recommended. Without it,
limecan build up inthe water valve, which could
stick while open and cause flooding.Too much
detergent with softwater can cause a permanent
cloudinessof glassware, called etching.
Usethe information in the table below as a guideline
to determine the amount of automatic dishwasher
detergent to placein the dispenser

You'llfind two detergent dispenserson the inside door
of your dishwasher.Allwash cycles requiredetergent
in the main cup.When usingautomatic dishwashing
detergent tabs, simply placeone tab in the main cup
and close.
Besurethe Dial isOFF before adding detergent.
Otherwise,the detergent cupwill not closeand latch
properlu.Add detergent then closethe main cup.

NOTE:Toopen detergent cup after it hasbeen
closed,simplu turn the detergent cup handle
counterclockwise until it releases.A snapping
sound may be heard.
DO NOTUSEHAND DISH DETERGENT
NOTE:Usinga detergent that is not specifically
designedfor dishwashers will causethe dishwasher
to fill with suds.During operation,these sudswill spill
out of thedishwasher vents,coveringthe kitchen floor
and making the floor wet.
Becauseso manu detergent containers look alike,
store the dishwasher detergent in a separate space
from all other cleaners.Show anuone who may use
the dishwasherthe correct detergent and where it
is stored.
Whilethere will be no lasting damage to the
dishwasher,your disheswill not get clean using
a dishwashing detergent that isnot formulated
to work with dishwashers. 9
