Start-up and use
Starting the appliance
! Before starting the appliance, follow the installation
instructions (
see Installation
).
! Before connecting the appliance, clean the
compartments and accessories well with lukewarm
water and bicarbonate.
! The appliance comes with a motor protection control
system which starts the compressor approximately 8
minutes after switch on. This system also operates each
time the power supply is cut off whether voluntarily or
involuntarily (blackout).
1. Insert the plug into the socket and ensure that the
internal light illuminates (the TEMPERATURE
ADJUSTMENT knob must not be on the
OFF
position).
2. Turn the TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT knob to a mid
position. After a few hours you will be able to put food
in the refrigerator.
Setting the temperature
The temperature inside the refrigerator compartment
automatically adjusts itself according to the position of
the thermostat knob. The ideal setting will depend on
the appliance location, room temperature and number of
door openings.
1 = warmest
MAX = coldest
We recommend, however, starting on the mid position (i-
care)
With a suitable refrigerator temperature, the freezer
compartment will automatically be maintained at the
correct temperature (below -18
°C).
Refrigerator cooling system:
The cooling system is located immediately behind the
back wall of the refrigerator compartment. The back wall
will be covered in frost or water droplets depending on
whether the compressor is operating or paused: both
cases are normal. If the TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT
knob has been set in a high position with large
quantities of food and with a high ambient temperature,
the appliance can operate continuously. This results in
excessive frost formation and excessive energy
consumption. Compensate for this by shifting the knob
towards lower values (defrosting will occur
automatically).
In the refrigerator, the air circulates in a natural way: the
colder air tends to move downwards as it is heavier. The
food should be stored as follows:
Using the refrigerator to its full potential
• Use the REFRIGERATOR OPERATION knob to adjust
the temperature (
see Description
).
• Place only cold or lukewarm foods in the compartment,
not hot foods (
see Precautions and tips
).
• Follow any instructions on the food packaging
including storage times.
• Remember that cooked foods do not last longer than
raw foods. Store raw or defrosted meat and poultry in
polythene or foil and store below cooked foods and
dairy products to avoid contamination from dripping
juices.
• Do not store liquids in open containers. They will
increase humidity in the refrigerator and cause
condensation to form.
No-frost freezer cooling system:
This is recognisable by the air ducts on the back wall of
the freezer compartment.
The no-frost system circulates cold air to collect humidity
and prevent ice and frost formation. The system
prevents food from sticking together and makes
defrosting a thing of the past. Do not block the air
circulation by placing food or containers in direct
contact with the rear air ducts.
