When the range iscool, wash the

occasionallyapply a thin coat of
mild cleaningwax tohelp protect
the finish.
There are a number of precautions
youcan taketo avoidmarring the
surface ofthe range and to prevent
it from becomingdull. Don’tslide
heavypans across it. If you spill
foodswith a lot of acid (tomatoes,
sauerkraut, fruitjuices, etc.) or
foodswith high sugar content,
clean them up as soon as possible.
If allowedto remain, these foods
could cause a dull spot. Also, no
matter how stubborn the food stain,
never use harsh abrasive cleansers.
They could permanently damage
the enamel surface.

WHEN CHANGING A SURFACE
LAMP, DO N~ ~UCH THE
METAL AT ENDS OF LAMP.
Yoursurface lamp is easily
replaced with a fluorescent tube of
the same wattage. Make sure power
to the range is disconnected at the
main fuse or circuit breaker panel
or pull the power cord plug from
the electric outlet.
To replace, placefingerson top
near each end ofthe 1ighttube.
Press the bulb gentlyinto the slots
and rollthetopof tubegentlytoward
the back ofthe rangeuntil it stops.
Then mo~~ethe lamp coverdown.
Grates shouldbe washedregularly
and, of course, after spillovers.
Washthem in hot, soapywater and
rinse with clean water.Dry the
grates with a cloth—don’tput them
back on the range wet.
Toget rid of burned-on food, soak
the grates in a slightlydiluted
liquid cleanser.
Althoughthey’redurable, the
grates will gradually lose their
shine, regardless ofthe best care
you can give them, This is due to
their continual exposureto high
temperatures.
Do not operate a burner for an
extendedperiod of time without
cookware on the grate. The finish
on the grate may chip without
cookware to absorb the heat.
When replacing a
pair of grates,
the irregular
sides should
interlock in
the middle as +
shown at right.
