DefrosTing/VaCaTion
Defrosting
Refrigerator compartment:
The refrigerator compartment defrosts automatical-
ly. The water that forms on the rear wall drains into
a reservoir at the back of the appliance and evapo-
rates automatically through the compressor heat.
Freezer compartment:
The No-frost system automatically defrosts the
freezer compartment. Any moisture will collect on
the evaporator and freeze. It will periodically defrost
and evaporate.
Vacation Tips
Short vacations:
It is not necessary to turn off the refrigerator and
freezer if you will be away for less than four weeks.
• Use all perishables.
• Freeze other items.
Long vacations:
If you will be away for a month or more:
• Remove all food from the refrigerator and freezer
compartments.
• Turn off the refrigerator and freezer compart-
ments.
• Clean the appliance. Refer to Cleaning.
• Leave the door open to prevent unpleasant
odors. This will also keep mold from building up.
