Hard Water contains minerals that cause a film to develop on dishes, the dishwasher tub,and can deposit on the ....
mechanical parts of the dishwasher. You may first notice this as °'cloudy" glasses. To confirm if the film is remov-
able, soak a glass for approximately 5 minutes in undiluted white vinegar. Rinse and dry. If the film is removed,
it is probably due to hard water (if not removed, see Soft Water).

Soft Water can promote etching if too much detergent is used, items are prerinsed or the water temperature is too
high. Etching is a permanent pitting or eroding of the surface of the glassware.

Etching can happen in any dishwasher and there is no
relationship to the cost or quality of the glass. 3. Do not prerinse. This aggravates etching.
Rust Minerals (iron and manganese) can turn dishes or the tub interior a brown, red or bIack color.

RoVer with dishwashing detergent.

water.
