INTRODUCTION
To get the best out of your new appliance, please read
thisuserguidecarefullybeforeusingitfortherst
time. Take particular note of the safety precautions.
We also recommend that you keep the instructions for
future reference, so that you can remind yourself of the
functions of your appliance.
SAFETY MEASURES
Normal use of the appliance
• Incorrect use of this appliance may cause personal
injury and damage to the appliance.
• Use for its intended purpose only. The manufacturer
is not responsible for any injury or damage resulting
from incorrect use or handling (see also Guarantee
Terms).
• For connection to 230 V, 50 Hz only.
• For domestic use only. Not for outdoor or
commercial use.
• Remove the plug from the socket once you have
nishedusingtheappliance.
• Please note that the appliance will remain hot for a
while after you switch it off. Always allow it to cool
completely before you put it away or clean it.
• Do not submerge in water or any other liquid.
• Never touch the appliance if your hands are wet or
damp.
• Keep the appliance under constant supervision
while in use. Keep an eye on children.
• Do not use metal implements or other forms of
hard materials which could damage the non-stick
coating of the hotplate or raclette pans. Use the
accompanying spatulas only.
• Avoid touching the appliance and its accessories
during and immediately after use. They can be very
hot. Touch the handle and lid only.
• Exercise care when moving the appliance or turning
the hotplate. Splashes of hot oil can cause burns.
Positioning the appliance
• Always place the appliance on a level, dry, stable
and heat-resistant surface.
• Always place the appliance in the middle of a table
andatasafedistancefromammableobjectssuch
as curtains, tablecloths or similar.
• The appliance must not be placed or stored near
other sources of heat.
• Do not cover.
Cord, plug and mains socket
• Check regularly that neither the cord nor plug is
damaged and do not use if there is any damage, or
ifithasbeendroppedontheoor,droppedinwater
or damaged in any other way.
• If the appliance or plug is damaged, it must
be inspected and if necessary, repaired by an
authorised repair engineer, otherwise there is a risk
of electric shock. Never try to repair the appliance
yourself. Please contact the store where you bought
the appliance for repairs under guarantee.
• Remove the plug from the socket when cleaning, or
when the device is not in use. Avoid pulling the cord
when removing the plug from the socket. Instead,
hold the plug.
• Do not allow the cord to hang over the edge of a
table/counter, and keep it away from hot objects
andnakedames.
• Check that it is not possible to pull or trip over the
cord or any extension cord.
• Do not wind the cord around the appliance.

PRIOR TO FIRST USE
Beforeusingforthersttime(orafteralongperiodof
storage), clean the appliance thoroughly and allow to
stand switched on for approx. 10 minutes before use
(see Cleaning below.)
USING THE APPLIANCE
1. Place the appliance where it is to be used.
2. Turn the hotplate (3) the appropriate way up.
• The smooth side is ideal for placing the raclette
pans on and it ensures good heat conductivity to
theat-bottomedpans.
• The corrugated side is ideal for frying steaks, chops,
pork schnitzels and the like.
• Both sides have a high edge all the way round to
prevent oil and fat running down into the appliance
or onto the table.
3. Plug the base in (6) and check that it is switched on
at the wall.
