USING YOUR HOME CAFÉ™ COFFEEMAKER
WITH SPECIALTY PODS
Your coffeemaker comes already with a Specialty Pod Holder that you can use only with speciality pods
such as cappuccinos, lattes and mochas. Make sur you keep it in a safe place for future use. Go to
www.home-cafe.com or call 1-800-HOME CAFÉ for more information.
When using Specialty Pods:
1. Follow steps 1 through 4 in the “Using Your Home Café™ Coffeemaker” section.
2. Use the Specialty Pod Holder. (Picture 1)
3. Insert a Specialty Pod in the Specialty Pod Holder with the flat side up.
4. Place a cup/mug on the Cup Platform. See step 6 in “Using Your
Home Café™ Coffeemaker” on how to use the Cup Platform.
5. Close the lid by pulling the Lid Handle toward the front of the unit in
the locking position.
6. Push the Brew Button – Specialty Pod drinks must be brewed by
selecting the Brew Button to maximize flavor and consistency.
7. Follow step 9 through 11 in “Using Your Home Café™ Coffeemaker” section.
8. When brewing creamy Specialty Pods, clean the Specialty Pod Holder and splash guard after
brewing or at the end of the day.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF YOUR
HOME CAFÉ™ COFFEEMAKER
Regular Cleaning
1. Before cleaning, unplug the unit and allow it to cool fully.
2. Unlock the Pod Handle and lift the lid.
3. Remove the Pod Holder and discard the pod.
4. Remove the Splash Guard and wash the Splash Guard and Pod Holder with mild detergent.
5. Wipe surface with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, as they may scratch
the surface.
6. Rinse and dry all parts thoroughly. Never immerse the unit/base in water or in any other liquid.
Dishwasher safe (top rack): Removable Pod Holder, Splash Guard, Drip Tray Grid, Drip Tray, Water
Reservoir Lid and Cup Platform.
Not dishwasher safe: Water Reservoir, Stainless steel travel mug (included in SSP25 only).
Decalcifying Your Coffeemaker
Minerals (calcium/limestone) found in water will leave deposits in your coffeemaker and will affect
it’s performance. It’s recommended that you regularly remove these deposits by using white household
vinegar. Suggested cleaning interval: Soft water – every 80 brew cycles: Hard water every 40
brew cycles.
1. Remove the Pod Holder.
2. Pour 8 oz. white household vinegar into the water reservoir, then add 13-oz. fresh water up to the
21 oz. water reservoir line. Make sure the splash guard is in place.
3. Set a 9 oz. or larger mug on the brewing plate.
4. Press the Brew Button and let the cleaning solution brew through the unit.
5. When the unit stops, empty the mug and return it to the brewing plate.
6. Press the Brew Button again. Empty the mug and return it to the brewing plate.
7. Fill the water reservoir up to the 28 oz. line with fresh, cold water.
8. Press the Brew Button to flush out the remaining solution. Empty the mug and return it to
the brewing plate.
9. Press the Brew Button to repeat the process.
10.Wash the splash guard as instructed in the Regular Cleaning Section.
TROUBLESHOOTING YOUR
HOME CAFÉ™ COFFEEMAKER
Your Home Café™ Coffeemaker has been carefully designed to give you many years of trouble-free
service. In the unlikely event that your coffeemaker does not operate satisfactorily, please review the
following potential problems and try the steps recommended BEFORE you call an Authorized Sunbeam
Service Center.
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
Not Brewing The appliance is unplugged. Plug unit in.
There’s a power outage. Wait for power to be restored.
The water reservoir is empty. Unit shuts off. Fill the water reservoir with water and turn the
unit on by making your cup size selection.
The lid handle is not in the closed position. Rotate the Lid Handle to the closed position.
The pod holder is not properly inserted. Insert Pod Holder correctly.
Dispensing only Pod and/or pod holder not in place Make sure that the Pod Holder is in place.
