How The Electronic Cuber Works
This section is intended for the technician. It is not necessary for the normal operation and maintenance
of the machine.
Refrigeration System:
The refrigeration system is similar to that of most
commercial cube ice machines. Heat is removed
from the water and discharged out the condenser
during the freeze cycle. As liquid refrigerant
passes thru the Thermostatic Expansion Valve, it
enters the top of the evaporators, and ice will form
at the top first.
When cubes need to be released (Harvest) the Hot
Gas Valve is opened and Hot discharge gas flows
directly from the compressor to the evaporator
inlets. At the same time, a Harvest Bypass Valve
opens for a few seconds to add the refrigerant
needed for harvest. After that the Harvest Bypass
Valve and the closed Discharge Check Valve
keeps the refrigerant in the condenser out of the
Hot Gas Circuit.
This warms up the evaporators and the surface of
the ice frozen to the evaporator surface melts. Ice
then falls into the bin.
The Check Valves also prevent liquid migration
during the Off cycle.
