PART I –GENERAL
1.01 Work Included
A. The opening will be equipped withWayne-Dalton
600 Seriesrollinggrilles.

B. ASTM A123 Zinc [hot-dippedgalvanized]coat-
ings
on iron and steel products.
C. ASTM A229 –Steel wire,oil-tempered for
mechanical springs.
D. ASTM A-653-94 –Steel sheet,zinc-coated
[galvanized] by thehot-dipped process,
commercial quality.
1.04 QualityAssurance
A. Rollinggrilles and all accessories andcomponents
requiredfor complete and secure installations shall be
manufactured as a systemfrom one manufacturer.

B. ProductData:Indicating manufacturer’s product
data,andinstallation instructions.
1.07 Delivery, Handling, Storage
A. Deliver productsinmanufacturer’s originalcontainers,
dry,undamaged,seals and labelsintact.
B. Store andprotectproducts in accordance with
manufacturer’s recommendations.
1.08 Warranty
A. Standard manufacturer’s oneyear warrantyagainst
defects in materialand workmanship.
PART I I– PRODUCTS
2.01 Curtain
A. Curtains are to befabricated of5/16" galvanized
steel horizontal rods,continuous fromjambtojamb,
covered withaluminum tubes.Verticallinks and tubes
available in stainless,aluminum or galvanized steel.End
links insure that grille cannot bepulled from guides.
2.02 Guides
A. Guides will be ofextruded aluminum with woolpile
inserts to contactboth facesofgrille,acting as wearing
surfacesand sound deadener.
2.03 Brackets
A. Bracket Plates will be of 3/16” minimum [1/4”] steel
plate.Sealedball bearings to support the
counterbalance assembly.Bracketstoform end
closures andsupport hoods.
2.04 Counterbalance
A. Curtain to be coiled ona pipe ofsufficient size to
carry door load with deflection nottoexceed .033"
per foot ofdoorspan andtobe correctly balanced by
helical springs,oil tempered torsiontype.Castiron
barrel plugs will be used to anchor springstotension
shaft and pipe.
2.05 Hood
A. When required,hood is tobefabricated of24-gauge
galvanized steel(stainless steel) (20 B&S gauge
aluminum).Provide intermediate hood supports over
16'0" opening width.
2.06 Finish
Finishfor aluminum surfaces is to be (mill) (clear
anodized204R1)(bronzeanodized).Non-galvanized
steel surfacesare to be paintedone shop coat of rust
inhibiting primer.Stainless steel to be #304 brushed.
2.07 Operation
A. Grilleswillbeoperated by meansof(manual,with lift
handles)(by chainand gear–maximum pull of 35lbs.)
(by fullyenclosed awning type crank gearingand
removable crankarm)(by motor operator).
2.08 Locking
A. Manualorcrank operated grillestobeby meansof
slide boltlocking device operable from inside or
outside.Chain lockkeeperonchain operated doors.
Motor operatedgrilles to includeself-locking gearing
pluschain lockingdevice for emergency chain.
Note: When specifying locksonelectric-motor operated
doors,electric interlocks shouldalsobespecifiedto
prevent operationwhenlock boltsare engagedinthe
guides,thus preventing damage to thecurtain
and/oroperator.
PART III EXECUTION
3.01 Installation
A. General:
1. Install grillesinaccordancewithmanufacturer’s
instructions and standards.Installationshall be by an
authorizedWayne-Dalton representative.
2. Verify that existing conditions are readyto receive
rolling grillework.
3. Beginning of rollinggrille work meansacceptance
of existing conditions.
B. Install grille complete withnecessaryhardware,jamb
and head mold strips,anchors,inserts,hangers,and
equipment supports inaccordance with final shop
drawings,manufacturer’s instructions,and as specified
herein.
C. Fit,alignand adjustrolling grille assemblies level and
plumb forsmoothoperation.
D. Upon completion of final installation,lubricate,testand
adjustgrilles to operateeasily,freefrom warp,twistor
distortion and fitting for entire perimeter.
Note: Architectmayconsider providing a schedule when
more than one rollinggrille or opening type is
required.
