Just in case anyone else has this problem, here is possibly some help.

I just had a Kenmore dishwasher installed. After they left, I couldn't get the door open. The technician had to come back. Imagine my chagrin when he opened it immediately.

He explained that my old dishwasher had a latch that had to be pulled up and forward, so I was in the habit of doing that. With this one, you just pull the door toward you, no upward motion at all.

Just trying to help you avoid the humiliation I feel right now.
