defeatthesafetypurposeofthepolarizedplug.

12. Power-CordProtection:Powersupplycordsshouldberoutedsothattheyarenot

likelytobewalkedonorpinchedbyitemsplaceduponoragainstthem,paying

particularattentiontocordsatplugs,conveniencereceptacles,andatthepoint

whichtheyexitfromtheproduct.

13. ProtectiveAttachmentPlug:Theproductmaybeequippedwithanattachmentplug

withoverloadprotection.Thisisasafetyfeature.Seetheoperatinginstructionsfor

replacementordirectionstoresettheprotectivedevice.Ifreplacementoftheplug

isrequired,besuretheservicetechnicianhasusedareplacementplugthathasthe

sameoverloadprotectionastheoriginalplugasspeciedbythemanufacturer.

14. OutdoorAntennaGrounding:Ifanoutsideantennaisconnectedtotheproduct,be

suretheantennasystemisgroundedsoastoprovidesomeprotectionagainstvolt-

agesurgesandbuilt-upstaticcharges.Article810oftheNationalElectricalCode,

ANS/NFPA70providesinformationwithregardtopropergroundingofthemastand

supportingstructure,groundingofthelead-inwiretoanantenna-dischargeunit,size

ofgroundingconductors,locationofantenna-dischargeunit,connectiontogrounding

electrodes,andrequirementsforthegroundingelectrode(seegure).

15. Lightning:Foraddedprotectionforthisproduct,unplugitfromthewalloutletanddiscon-

necttheantennaorcablesystemduringalightningstormorwhenitisleftunattended

andunusedforlongperiodsoftime.Thiswillpreventdamagetotheproductdueto

lightningorpower-linesurges.


