ApplianceStart‐up
Oncetheappliancehasbeenlocatedinitspermanent
locationandtheproperpowerandgroundinghasbeen
provided,thefollowingitemsmustbecheckedor
completed:
CoolDownPeriod
Forsafefoodstorage,allow24hoursfortheappliance
tocooldowncompletelybeforeloadingwithfood.The
appliancewillruncontinuouslyforthefirstseveral
hours.Donotplaceanyfoodintheapplianceuntilafter
thefirst24hoursofoperation.
ThermostatSetting
Theapplianceisshippedfromthefactorywiththe
thermostatsetataboutthemidpointoftheoperating
range.Adjustmentscolderorwarmercanbemadeafter
theappliancehasbeenrunningforatleast8hours.
Allowatleast8hoursfortemperaturestabilization
beforereadjustingthethermostat.
DefrostSetting
Theapplianceisdesignedtodefrostautomaticallyevery
12hours.Tosetthetimeofdefrost,waituntilthe
desiredtimetodefrost.Withthenotchonthetimer
knobalignedwiththelineonthebracket(Fig.A),turn
thedefrosttimerknobclockwiseslowly.Thetimerwill
clickseveraltimes,thenonceloudly,atwhichpointthe
defrostcyclebegins.Thetimerknobwilladvance
throughthedefrostcycle,andthenclickloudlyatthe
endofthecycle(Fig.B).Theappliancewilldefrost
automaticallyevery12hour s
afterthefirstdefrostcycle.
RoutineMaintenance
CleaningtheInterior
Besuretoturnthetem peraturecontrolto“OFF”and
unplugtheelectricalcord.Washtheinsidesurfaceof
thestorageareawithwarmwaterandbakingsoda
solution(aboutonetablespoonofbakingsodaper
quartofwarmwater).Rinsethoroughly withclean,
warmwaterandwipedry.
CleaningtheExterior
Wipethecabinetexterioroccasionally withacloth
dampenedinmilddetergentandwater.Rinseandwipe
drywithasoftcloth.Donotuserazorbladesorother
sharpinstrumentsthatcanscratchtheappliance
surfacewhenremovingadhesivelabels.Anyglueleft
fromthetapecanberemovedwithamixtureofwarm
waterandmilddetergentortouchtheresiduewiththe
stickysideoftapealreadyremoved.DONOTREMO VE
THESERIALPLATE.
CondensatePan
Somemodelshaveacondensatepanin afixedposition
locatedbehindthetoegrill.Thismustnotberemoved
fromunderthecabinet.Ifthepanisremoved,
condensatewilldropontothefloor.
POWERFAILURE
DONOTopentheappliancelidunnecessarilyifthe
applianceisoffforseveralhours.Ifapowerfailure
occurs,packsevenoreightpoundsofdryiceintothe
applianceevery24hours.LookintheYellowPages
under“DryIce”,“Dairies”,or“IceCream
Manufacturers”forlocaldryicesuppliers.Alwayswear
glovesandusecautionwhenhandlingdryice.
Operation
Runtheunitforatleast24hoursbeforeloading.
Whenloadingtheunit:
• Becarefulnottoblocktheairductlocatedat
thebackandthefanontheceilingoftheunit
withcontents.
• Blockingtheairflowmaycausedecreasein
performance.
• Forthebestperformance,maintainatleast4
inchesofclearanceinbetweenthecontents
andtheairduct.
Settheshelvesthatcomewiththeunittofityour
needs.
Temperaturecontroller:
• Thecontrollerislocatedattheright, front
corneroftheceiling.
• Temperatureissetas“4”atdefault.
