Chlorinebleachmay yellowsomefabricswith resin finishes,Usenon-
chlorinebleach(suchas Clorox2 brand). Refer to Garment
Manufacturers’Care Labels. Restorecolor usingcolor remover(such

Useextra detergentph.Isa non-precipitatingwater softener dis-
solvedin water before adding clothes. Use non-chlorinebleach.
Havea specialfilter or chemicalfeederinstalledin your hometo
removeiron and manganesefrom water.
Run hot water for a fewminutesto cleaniron residuebuiId-upin
lines;drain water heater occasionally.
To removespots: spread stained portion overpan of boilingwater
and squeezelemonjuice through stain. To remove
overall JWMOW,
usea commerciallyavailablerust scaleremover,followingpackage
instructions. If porcelaindamagecan occur,do not usein the
washer;usea plasticcontainer.
Improper use of fabric softener.Neverpour fabric softener directlyon
clothes;alwaysdilutebefore adding to rinsewater.Dilutesoftener
before fillingyour Fabric Softener Dispenser.(Seepage8) Also, do
not lift lid duringspin. Thismay causeimproper dispensing,resulting
in stains. To removestains: dampen stainedarea and rub with
undiluted liquiddetergent. Re-wash, usingchlorinebleachif safe for
fabric.
Somefabricswillshrink whetherwashedin a washeror by hand;
others may be safelywashedbut willshrink in a dryer. Follow
Garment Manufacturers’ Care Labels exactly.If in doubt, do not
machinewash or dry.
Relaxation shrinkage can occur in knit fabricsthat havebeen improp-
erly stretchedand elongatedby the manufacturer. When this occurs,
garment may bepressedback into shapeafter each wash and dry
cycle.
Progressiveor delayed shrinkage is causedwhen starch or sizing(in
somefabrics)isgraduallyremovedby laundering. May be noticed in
oldergarmentsthat havebeenwashed many times without previous
shrinkage.Treatas for RelaxationShrinkageabove.
Shrinkage caused by overheating occurs in certain knit fabrics that
havebeen heat-shaped. When washing, drying or ironing
temperatures exceedthe temperatures used to shape set, shrinkage
may occur.This cannot be corrected, but it can be preventedby
washingin cold or warm water; drying on Low or Delicateheat.
