Did you move the cup so the agitator contacted all the
ingredients?

Mixer will not turn on
Is the speed control set too high?
Is the agitator securely attached to the spindle? If not,unplug the unit,
hold the spindle firmly, and use a towel to hand-tighten the agitator by
turning it counterclockwise.
Is the agitator bent or worn? Replace agitator every 90 days.
Is container too full?
Is the mixer plugged in?
Has the circuit breaker on the back of the mixer (next to the power cord) tripped?
Push the button to reset.
