Formatting Memory or Picture Card
You may need to format the camera’s internal memory if it becomes corrupted.
You may need to format a Picture Card if it becomes corrupted or if it was used
in a different camera. When formatting is necessary, an error message appears
on the LCD screen. See page 58 for error messages.
CAUTION:
Formatting erases everything, even protected pictures,
from the internal memory or Picture Card. Removing the
Picture Card during formatting may damage the card.
1 Turn the Mode dial to Setup .
2 Highlight the Format menu, then press the Select button.
3 Highlight the Format option you want to use:
FORMAT CARD—erases all of the
information on the Picture Card and
reformats the card for use in the camera.
CANCEL FORMAT—exits without making a
change.
FORMAT MEMORY—erases all of the
information in the camera’s internal
memory and reformats the memory.
4 Press the Select button.
5 Highlight Continue Format, then press the
Select button.
6 When the formatting is complete, the Setup
menu is automatically redisplayed.
NOTE: Once formatting begins, it is completed
even if you turn off the camera or change
the Mode dial position.
