If the engine becomes sluggish and low on power, check and clean the spark arrester screen.
Loosen the knob of the spark plug cover and remove the cover.

Remove the spark plug lead from the spark plug.2.
Loosen the four 5 mm bolts located at the top of the recoil starter housing and remove the cover.3.
Loosen the 5 mm bolt located at the top of the cylinder cover and two 4 mm bolts located at the bottom of the cylinder 4.

Loosen three 5 mm mufer cover bolts and remove the mufer cover.5.
Remove mufer gasket bolt.6.
Loosen two 4 mm screws from the mufer cover.7.
Remove two 4 mm screws from the top tail plate and remove tail plate.8.
Remove the spark arrester screen and clean with a stiff bristle brush.9.
Remove the mufer from the engine and inspect the cylinder exhaust port for carbon buildup.10.
Reassemble the mufer in the reverse order of disassembly11.
IMPORTANT!
If you note excessive carbon buildup, consult your servicing dealer.
Remove any compacted debris from

around the fuel tank and/or mufer.
Inspect cooling system. Check cooling
■
air intake area at base of crankcase.
Remove all debris. Dirt build-up in these
areas can lead to engine overheating,
re, or premature wear.
Remove and clean the cylinder cover and ■
clean grass and dirt from the cylinder ns.

WARNING!
This unit must never be operated with a faulty or missing spark arrester or mufer. Make sure the mufer is well
secured and in good condition. A worn or damaged mufer is a re hazard and may also cause hearing loss.
