ALDES HRV 2500SFD /

Heat Recovery Ventilator
ALDES Models HRV 2500SFD
and 2500SFDE area compact heat
recovery ventilators designed to
exhaust stale indoor air and supply
fresh air from outdoors. They are
intended for small commercial and
institutional applications, such as
office buildings, classrooms, apart-
ment buildings, hospitals, nursing
homes, dormitories, restaurants,
health clubs, etc.
Each model is a technically ad-
vanced controlled mechanical ven-
tilation system to meet the require-
ments of modern, tightly built and
highly insulated buildings. It pro-
vides a consistent supply of fresh
air while lowering heating costs
during the winter by transferring
heat from the exhaust air to the
fresh air stream. During the sum-
mer it also reduces the load on the
air conditioner by lowering the tem-
perature of the fresh outdoor air.
The system provides an economi-
cal solution for excessive indoor
humidity, odors, stuffiness, and
other indoor air pollutants.
As the two air streams pass through
the HRV, they are separated by
thin plates of aluminum in the core.
The air streams do not mix, so
there is no recontamination of the
fresh air by stale air. Heat passes
through the thermally conductive
aluminum from the warmer air
stream to the colder air stream,
recovering most of the energy oth-
erwise lost to the outdoors.
The Model 2500 is available with
two mounting options. The Model
2500SFD is intended for installa-
tion indoors. The duct connections
to the outdoors are conveniently
located near the top, to permit duct-
ing up through a roof, or turning
horizontally for side wall intake and
discharge. The Model 2500SFDE
mounts on an insulated roof curb,
supplied with the unit. The supply
GENERAL FEATURES
Thermally conductive aluminum heat exchange core, cross-
flow design, easily removed from either side for cleaning or ser-
vice.
Insulated 20 gauge powder coated galvanized steel cabinet.
Direct drive centrifugal forward curve blowers, one in each air
stream.
Two efficient three speed PSC single shaft motors 208/230 V,
5.1 Amps each (10.2 Amps total on high speed), 1 ph. 1 HP.
Two 18”x24” 4-in deep pleated filters, one in each air stream
protect the core.
Defrost: Factory set defrost time (user adjustable). Supply
motor shuts off while exhaust air defrosts core.
and exhaust duct connections to the
interior are totally enclosed within the
insulated curb.
These units offer a wide range of
airflow and pressure, using 3-speed
direct drive motors. They can be
provided with solid state motor speed
controls if desired. Use of direct drive
motors, with selectable speeds re-
sults in simpler installation and bal-
ancing, less maintenance (belt ad-
justments and replacements) and
reduced electrical consumption as
compared to belt drive units. Both
models utilize fan defrost, shutting
off the supply fan on a timed defrost
cycle that begins at temperatures
below 26 °F (-4 °C). The defrost time
cycle (user adjustable) is factory pre-
set to 10 minutes defrost, followed by
30 minutes normal operation.
