ALDES Pool Model Heat Re-
cover Ventilators are designed
to exhaust humid air from indoor
swimming pools and spa area
and to supply tempered fresh air
from outdoors. It incorporates
an efficient aluminum core for
heat recovery of waste heat to
temper the fresh outdoor air, to
provide and economical solu-
tion to excessive humidity, odor,
stuffiness, and other indoor air
pollutants. The model P700SDD
is intended for small commer-
cial, institutional, and residential
applications for pool and wetted
deck areas up to 700 square
feet.
The pool model has three modes
of operation to meet the unique
needs of pools. The normal
ventilation mode provides ex-
haust of humid air and supply of
fresh outdoor air, with heat re-
covery in the efficient aluminum
cores. This mode is controlled
by an adjustable dehumidistat
that opens the fresh air damper
to the outdoor air intake, and
operates both the supply and
exhaust fans. (A duct heater or
hot water coil may be installed in
the supply duct to provide addi-
tional heat to the incoming air or
recirculating air. This heater
would be controlled by a duct
mounted thermostat.)
The second mode of operation
occurs when the humidity level
falls below the setpoint of the
dehumidistat. The exhaust fan
shuts off, the supply air damper
closes off outdoor air, and opens
The third mode of operation pro-
vides automatic defrost by shut-
ting off fresh air intake in a cycle
of 4.5 minutes off, 17 minutes
on. The defrost cycle occurs
when outdoor temperatures are
below 27°F (-3°C)
the recirculation air circuit. This
mode maintains constant air cir-
culation in the conditioned space,
and a means of heating the con-
ditioned space if a duct heater or
hot water coil is installed in the
supply duct.
