Switching off the device
̅ If you wish to cancel the device heating up, press switch "0”. On doing this you should hear a click.
̅ The brewing process lasts between 7 and 12 minutes depending on the amount and temperature of the water used.
̅ WARNING: The device makes very hot tea or coffee.
̅ The indicator light is on during the heating process.
̅ The indicator light goes out when the drink is ready.
̅ If the drink level falls below the MIN-mark pull the plug from the socket.
̅ WARNING: Protect the glass carafe from breakage.
Wait until the device has fully cooled down before refilling it with cold water.
MAKING TEA AND COFFEE
̅ Always use fresh mains drinking water.
̅ You can use any kind of loose tea or tea bags. (Make sure that no labels or tea bag strings are left in the device).
̅ Place the required amount of coffee or tea in the sieve. Depending on the required strength of the drink,
about one teaspoonful of tea or coffee per cup should be enough.
The amount of tea is very dependent on personal taste and the type of tea. Therefore the following recommendations
should only be taken as broad guidelines (based on 1 litre of medium strength tea):
• Black tea:
2 heaped teaspoonsful of loose tea / 3 tea bags
• Herbal tea:
4 heaped teaspoonsful of loose tea / 4 tea bags
• Fruit tea:
6 heaped teaspoonsful of loose tea / 5 tea bags
̅ Place the brewing system with the water outlet pipe into the glass carafe.
̅ Remember to check that the bottom part of the outlet pipe is correctly seated in the heating element.
̅ The carafe handle fits into the recess in the brewing system.
̅ Please note: the longer you keep a drink hot, the more water is evaporated as steam and the stronger the
drink will become.
CLEANING
̅ So that you always obtain the best cup of tea every time, you should clean the tea and coffee maker after each use.
This should ensure that you prevent:
- the build-up of the combination of lime scale and tannin resulting from boiling water and making tea.
This can affect the proper working of the tea and coffee maker,
- the build-up of the aroma of strongly aromatic tea resulting from the prolonged use of such teas
in the tea and coffee maker. This can taint the flavour of other types of tea.
̅ Before cleaning, always remove the plug from the socket and allow the device to cool.
̅ Clean the insides of the tea and coffee maker with a moist cloth and the plastic parts with a damp sponge.
̅ Clean the brewing chamber and the lid with warm water and a little washing-up liquid.
̅ Never immerse the tea and coffee maker, the cable or the plug in water.
̅ Always make sure that the electrical connection remains dry.
̅ Do not use any scouring agents or scouring pads as they can damage the tea and coffee maker.
REMOVING LIME SCALE
The calcium content of the water depends on your location. Lime scale should be removed after every 20-40 uses.
To remove lime scale, use a lime scale remover containing citric acid.
