The Problem Solver
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE
OVEN WILL NOT WORK Plug on range is not completely inserted in the electrical outlet.
The circuit breaker in your house has been tripped, or a fuse has been blown.
Oven controls not properly set.
Door left in locked position after cleaning.
OVEN LIGHT DOES Light bulb is loose or defective. Tighten or replace.
NOT WORK
FOOD DOES NOT The OVEN SET knob not set at BROIL. Make sure you turn the knob all the
BROIL PROPERLY way to the BROIL position.
The OVEN TEMP knob not set at BROIL. Make sure you turn the knob all
the way to the BROIL position.
Door not left open to the broil stop position as recommended.
Improper shelf position being used. See the Broiling Guide.
Food is being cooked on hot pan.
Cookware is not suited for broiling.
Aluminum foil used on the broil pan grid has not been fitted properly and
slit as recommended.
FOOD DOES NOT ROAST The OVEN SET knob not set at BAKE.
OR BAKE PROPERLY
The OVEN TEMP knob not set at proper temperature.
Oven shelf is not level.
Incorrect cookware or cookware of improper size is being used.
Oven thermostat needs adjustment. See the Adjust the Oven Thermostat—
Do It Yourself section.
OVEN DOOR Because the oven door is removable, it sometimes gets out of position
IS CROOKED during installation. To straighten the door, push down on the high corner.
OVEN DOOR Turn the OVEN TEMP knob to OFF. Allow oven to cool.
ACCIDENTALLY LOCKED Never force the door latch handle.
DURING COOKING
OVEN DOOR WILL Oven must cool below locking temperature.
NOT UNLOCK
OVEN NOT CLEAN Oven controls not set properly.
AFTER CLEAN CYCLE
Heavily soiled ovens may need to self-clean again or for a longer period.
Heavy spillovers should be cleaned before starting clean cycle.
