Precautions When Freezing Food
Before putting hot food into
the freezer, cool it to room
temperature.
Separate food into small batches to
make it easier to freeze and defrost
for later. Do not freeze in batched
larger than 5.5 lbs. each.
Before freezing food, it is better to pack
it securely and make sure the outside of
the package is dry. The packing material
should be avorless, airproof, nontoxic,
and contamination-free to avoid tainting
the food inside.
Write the date, expiration date,
and food name on the outside
of packing materials so you
can be assured of the food
and when it is safe to eat.
Take food form the freezer to defrost
when needed. Defrosted food cannot
be frozen again unless it is cooked.
Otherwise, it will affect food quality
and safety.
Do not put too much fresh food into the
freezer at once. This could go beyond the
freezer’s cooling capacity.
Using the Ice Maker and Cold Water Dispenser
Preparations Before Using the Ice Maker and Cold Water Dispenser
Cut the water pipe according to need, and avoid bending the water pipe too much. Usually the length should
be less than 18 ft (5 m). If the water pipe is too long, the ice and water content are affected because of low
water pressure.
The water pipe cannot stand heat. Keep it away from heat sources.
You may want to have a service engineer install the water pipe.
During the rst use, in order to supply water to the fresh food compartment, press the cold water button
several times for 1 minute each. Do not press the cold water button for longer than a minute, to prevent
overheating the water valve. Cold water will begin to ow from the outlet.
Water supply pipe instruction: The cold water pressure should be 21 - 123 psi for automatic ice making.
The purier is only for ltering. It cannot sterilize or destroy anything - therefore, make sure to connect the
water pipe to a drinkable water source.
Precautions
To prevent the pipe form freezing, do not install the water pipe in a place below 32 °F.
Open water valve to ush pipe, and check leakage in water pipe joints until water is clean.
When temperature of ice maker is equal to or below 5 °F, the ice maker will begin to make ice. (Throw out
the rst several batches of ice cubes if you make ice after not having made it for a long time.)
After the refrigerator is installed, put the water supply pipe in a proper place to prevent pressing and damage.
The lter in the water pipe is there to lter impurities in the water and to make the ice chlorine and odor free.
After a long time of usage, if the cubed ice becomes smaller, it may mean that the lter is blocked from the
water impurities. After about 6 months of use, the “Change Filter” indicator light will turn on. At this time, we
suggest you call the number on the lter or go to an authorized Haier after-sale service center to buy a new
lter. After you change the lter, the indicator light will turn off. The refrigerator comes with a lter installed;
after this you have to buy and change the lter yourself.
The ice maker should only be connected to a source of drinkable water.
