Howtotestwatertemperature:
Checkyourwatertemperaturewith
a candyor meatthermometer.~rn
onthehotwaterfaucetnearestthe
dishwasher.Putthethermometerin
a glassand letthewaterrun
continuouslyintothe glassuntilthe
temperaturestopsrising.Ifthe
watertemperatureisbelow140”F.
adjustyourwaterheater.
Helpfulhints:Iftheoutside
temperaturesareunusuallylow,or
ifyourwatertravelsalong distance
fromheatertodishwasher,youmay
needto setyourheater’sthermostat
up.If youhavenotusedhotwater
~ forsometime,thewaterinthe
pipeswillbecold.Turnonthehot
waterfaucetatthesinkandallowit
torununtilthewaterishot.Then
startthedishwasher.If you’ve
recentlydonelaundryor runhot
waterforshowers,giveyourwater
heatertimetorecoverbefore
operatingthedishwasher.

First,useonlydetergent
specifical~ymadeforusein
dishwashers.Othertypeswill
causeoversutilng.
Second,checkthephosphate
content.Phosphatehelpsprevent
hard-watermaterialsfromforming
spotsorfilmonyourdishes.If
yourwaterishard(7grainsor
more),yourdetergenthastowork
harder.Detergentswithahigher
phosphatelevelwillprobablywork
better.If thephosphatecontentis
low(8.7%or less),you’llhaveto
useextradetergentwithhardwater.

youhowhardyourwateris. So
canyourruralcountyagent.Or
yourarea’swatersofienercompany.
Justcallandaskthemhowmany
“grains”ofhardnessis inyour
water.
Howmuchdetergentshouldyou

“hard”or “soft”?Withhardwater,
youneedextradetergentto get
dishesclean.Withsoftwater,you
needlessdetergent.
Toomuchdetergentwithsofiwater
notonlywastesmoney,it canbe

Keepyourdetergentfreshand
