Whenthe oven contrels are set to CLEAN, the oven heats to temperaturesthat ere
higherthan those usedfor cooking. The high temperaturescause food soilto burn off
and substantially disappear. While this occurs, a device in the ovenvent helps to
consume normalamountsof smoke. The oven is vented throughan openingunderthe
control panel.
• Removethebroilerpanandanyotherutensilsfromtheoven.Theseutensilscannot
withstandthe hightemperaturesof the cleaning process.
• Cleanspattersandspillsfromthoseareaswhichwillnotbecleanedduringtheself-
cleaning process:
- centerfrontofovenanddoornearopeningindoor
gasket, plate on _,
- porcelainoven doorliner(areaoutsidethe door
gasket).
- ovenfront frame.
Note: DO NOT CLEAN serial located the _
oven front.
To cleanthese areas, use hotwater and detergent,
nonabrasivecleansersor soapfilled steel woolpads.
Rinsethoroughly,beingcarefulnottouseanexcessive
amountof waterthat woulddampenthedoorgasket. Soil/eft inthese areas will
be more difficu# to remove after the seIFcleaning process since thehigh beat will
bake onanysoil that ispresent. DO NOT USECOMMERCIAL OVENCLEANERS
TO CLEANTHESE AREAS.
• DONOTATTEMPTTO CLEAN,RUB, ORAPPLYWATERTO GASKETONOVEN
DOOR. The gasket isessentialfor a good doorseal. Rubbingor cleaningwill
damage the gasket and may affect the seal,
• Wipeup excessgrease and food spilloverswhich have not bakedonthe bottom of
theoven. Largeacoumulationsof soilcan cause heavysmokeor fire in the oven
duringthecleaningprocess. For easeofcleaning,theheating elementcanbe lifted
slightly.
• Althoughsmoke or fire in the oven is a normal occurrence and there isno safety
problem, there will be venting of excessive smoke and odor.
