with a damp cloth, and allow all sections to dry completely
before putting them together again and refitting them.
o Caution! Check that the steam nozzle
has been assembled correctly, and
that the red sealing rings on the fixed
part of the steam nozzle are correctly
in place before reassembly (indicated
by the arrows in the illustration).
Empty the water reservoir if the
espresso maker is not going to be
used for a long period.
Cleaning the brewing head (twice a year)
Remove the brewing head by loosening the screw in the
centre of it.
Wipe the area under and around the brewing head with a
damp cloth and a small amount of detergent.
Clean the brewing head by rinsing it under the tap and
removing any deposits with a brush.
Allow the brewing head to dry completely and replace it.
Descaling
The lime content of ordinary tap water means limescale may
gradually be deposited inside the espresso maker. This limescale
may be loosened using acetic acid (NOT ordinary vinegar) or
descaler, available in supermarkets, etc.
Mix 100 ml acetic acid with 300 ml cold water, or follow the
instructions on the descaler packaging.
Pour the solution into the reservoir, turn the on/off knob to the
heating position, and wait until the OK indicator comes on.
Check that the filter holder is not fitted, place a container
beneath the brewing head, and turn the on/off knob to the
brewing position.
Allow half of the solution to run through the espresso maker,
and then turn the on/off knob to the off position.
Switch the espresso maker off for around 15 minutes, and
then switch it on again, and allow the rest of the solution to
run through.
Remove and clean the reservoir. Replace it, fill it with clean
water, turn the on/off knob to the brewing position, and allow
the water to run through the system.
The espresso maker is now ready for use again. Flush it
through again if the coffee has an acidic taste after descaling.
