For USA – Canada: This appliance has a polarized plug (one
blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric
shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only
one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse
the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
MANUALLY SWITCHING OFF THE COFFEE/TEA MAKER
The appliance can be switched off at any time using the
ON/OFF button (3).
BEFORE USING THE COFFEE/TEA MAKER
Clean the appliance before using for the first time. Fully fill
with water (up to the MAX level), allow it to perform a cycle
(without coffee or tea) and pour away the water.
HOW TO USE YOUR COFFEE/TEA MAKER
FILLING THE APPLIANCE
– Open the hinged lid (2) of the water tank (1) and pour in
the volume of water you need. Do not exceed the MAX
level. Close the hinged lid (2).
Note: You can also remove the water tank (1) to pour in
more water or clean the appliance.
Caution: Never use the appliance with an empty water tank
or with warm water to speed up the preparation time.
MAKING COFFEE
– Refer to the above section «FILLING THE APPLIANCE».
– Remove the coffee/tea jug (5) and add 1 heaped dessert
spoon or 1 BODUM
®
measuring spoon of coarsely-ground
coffee per cup to the pot (1.25 dl).
CAUTION: Only use coarsely-ground coffee. Finely-ground
coffee can block the filter and create high pressure.
– Place the infusion lid (8) onto the jug (Fig. 1) and place it
onto the warming plate (4) next to the water tank (1).
– Press the ON button (3).
– After a few minutes, water will begin to flow through the
infusion lid (8) into the jug.
– The cycle ends as soon as the water tank (1) is empty.
Switch off the appliance and remove the jug (5) from the
warming plate (4).
Important note: Do not operate the appliance without water.
– Lift up the infusion lid (8) and stir the coffee with a plastic
spoon.
CAUTION: Metal spoons can scratch or damage the glass pot
and could break it.
– Place the filter press unit (9) onto the pot (5). Do not press
down on the filter yet. Allow the coffee to infuse for at
least 4 minutes. (Fig. 2)
