Trouble Shooting Guide
Problem Possible Cause Possible Solution
Burner will not light Igniter electrode covered with Clean igniter electrode
with igniter grease or residue
Igniter/electrode too far from Adjust electrode until proper
burner spark appears (see page 11)
Igniter/electrode wire loose Call Coleman for service
or disconnected
Wire is shorted causing spark Call Coleman for service
from wire before electrode
No spark being generated Call Coleman for service
Burner will not light No gas flow Check fuel level or replace
even with a match fuel cylinder
Obstructed gas flow/debris Call Coleman for service
spider webs in burner tube
Flare-up Excessive cooking temperature Reduce flame level
Leave lid open
Spray with water to cool
Grease and/or residue build-up Clean components
Excessive fat in meats Trim fat from cut of meat
before grilling
Excessive oils in marinades Use non-oil based marinades
Yellow sooty flame Obstructed gas flow/debris or Call Coleman for service
Flame Blow-out Flame too low Increase flame
Fuel cylinder is low Check fuel level or replace
cylinder
Obstructed gas flow Call Coleman for service
