STARTUP WITH ELECTRONIC IGNITION (HGFD & HGFC SERIES)
CAUTION: Before turning the burners on, the fry tank must be filled with liquid or melted
shortening.
1. Plug the power cord into an appropriate grounded
receptacle.
2. Turn the main gas valve on.
3. Fill the fry tank with shortening (Refer to Melt Control
Options).
4. Open fryer cabinet door; locate the combination gas valve
in the burner compartment area. Push the gas valve
switch to the OFF position (Fig. 9). Wait 5 minutes for
unburned gas to vent.
5. Push the combination gas valve switch to ON.
6. Press the power switch on.
7. If pilot fails to light within 90 seconds, an error message will be displayed. The key pad becomes
disabled and the alarm sounds. To restart, turn the fryer power switch OFF. Wait 5 minutes, then
repeat steps 3 through 5 until the pilot lights. If the pilot fails to light after several repeated attempts,
contact your local Hobart Service office.
8. Thirty seconds after the pilot ignites, the fryer begins heating as programmed.
9. When the set temperature is reached, the burners shut off and the set temperature is displayed
in the window. The fryer then cycles on and off to maintain the set temperature.
SHUTDOWN FOR ELECTRONIC IGNITION (HGFD & HGFC SERIES)
1. Press the power switch off.
EXTENDED SHUTDOWN FOR ELECTRONIC IGNITION FRYER (HGFD & HGFC SERIES)
1. Press the power switch off.
2. Push the combination gas valve switch to OFF.
3. Turn the main gas shutoff valve off.
4. Unplug the power cord from electrical supply.
