Defrosting foods
➢ Before defrosting, make sure you have
removed any metal twist-ties which often
come with frozen food bags.
➢ Open containers before they are placed in
the microwave oven.
➢ Always pierce plastic pouches or packages.
Always shake gentle to ensure even
defrosting.
➢ If food is wrapped in foil, remove it and place
the food in a suitable container.
➢ Pierce the skins of frozen foods such as
sausages.
➢ The length of defrosting time depends on
how solid the food is, if the food is still icy in
the center, return it to the microwave oven
for more defrosting.
➢ As food starts to defrost, separate or remove
the pieces, it will defrost more easily.
➢ Turn food over for even defrosting.
➢ For best results, let the food stand after
defrosting.
