Read before operating your cooktop
All appliances - regardless of the manufacturer - have the potential
throughimproperor careless use to create safety problems. Therefore
the followingsafety precautionsshould be observed:
1. Besureyourapplianceis properlyinstalledandgroundedbya qualified
technician.
2. Neveruseyourapplianceforwarmingorheatingthe room,Thiswarning
isbasedonsafetyconsiderations.
3. Childrenshouldnot be leftaloneor unattendedin area whereapplianceis
in use. They should never be allowed to sit or stand on any part of the
appliance.
4. Wear properapparel. Loose-fitting or hanging garments should never
be worn while using the appliance.
5. Do not repair or replace any part of the appliance unless specifically
recommendedinthis manual. All otherservicing shouldbe referredto an
authorizedJenn-Air Service Contractor.
6. Do not store combustible materials, gasoline or other flammable vapors
and liquidnear cooktop.
7. Donotusewater ongreasefires. Smotherfire orflameoruse drychemical
or foam-typeextinguisher.
8. Useonly dry potholders. Moistor damp potholderson hot surfacesmay
result in burns from steam. Do not use a towel or other bulky cloth.
9. Selectcookwarelargeenoughto properlycontainfoodandavoidboilovers
or spillovers. This will save on cleaningand preventhazardousaccumu-
lationsoffood,since heavy splatteringor spilloverslefton a cooktopcan
ignite. Pan size is especiallyimportant in deep fat frying.
10. Never leave cooktop unattended at Hi heat settings. Boilover causes
smokingand greasyspillovers that may ignite.
11. TYPEOF COOKWARE- Avoid pansthat are unstableand easily tipped.
Inchoosingpans,lookfor easily-graspedhandlesthat willstay cool. Pans
thataretooheavywhenfilledwithfoodcanalsobea hazard. Ifpanhandles
twist and cannotbe tightened, discardthe pan.
12. HANDLES- Alwaysturn pan handlesto the side or backof the cooktop-
not out into the roomwhere they are easily hit. COOKWARE HANDLES
SHOULDBETURNED INWARDAND NOT EXTENDOVERADJACENT
SURFACEBURNERSto minimizebums, ignitionof flammablematerials,
and spillage due to unintentionalcontact with the cookware.
