Aslightodormaybe detected,and ifan oven isheavilysoiled,somesmokemay
be visible. Some smoke and odor during the cleaning process is a normal
occurrence. Sincethe ovenvent is at the bottomof the controlpanel, vapors,
moisture,etc. may be seen comingfrom this area.
Dudngthe cleaningprocess,do not be alarmed if an occasionalflame is visible
throughthe oven window. This is caused by excessive food sol)that was not
removedbeforethe oven was setto clean.
SINCE THE DOOR AND WINDOW OF THE OVEN WILL GET WARM DURING
THE SELF-CLEANING PROCESS, AVOID CONTACT.
Sometypes ofsoilmaydisintegratebutleave a lightfilmorheavierdepositofash.
The amountofashdependsonthe amount of soilwhichwas intheoven. Afteroven
hascooled,thisash may be removedwitha dampsponge. If otherdarkdeposits
remainafter wipingwitha sponge,thetime set forthe length ofcleaningwas not
enough. Increasethe cleaningtimefor futurecleaningsor clean morefrequently.
The normalcleaningtimeis 3 hours. A maximumof 4 hoursmay be selected if
necessary.
If rackshavebeenleft inovenduringthecleaningprocess,they shouldbetreated
asfollows. Afterthecleaningprocessiscompletedand theovenhas cooled,buff
theundersideofrackedgeswithSootch-Britescour-pador rub/ight/ythe underside
of rackedgeswith a coatingof vegetable oil. Use a lightapplicationof oilso itdoes
notsoilthe oven. This will makethe cleaned recksslidemore easily.
To removeoccasionalspilloversbetweencteanings,use a soap-filledscouringpad
or mildcleanser;rinsewell.
It is betterto cleanthe ovenregularlyratherthan wait untilthere isa heavy build-
up of soilin the oven.
Dudngthe cleaningprocess,the kitchenshouldbe well ventilatedto helpeliminate
normalodorsassociatedwith cleaning.
DO NOT USE COMMERCIAL OVEN CLEANERS.
DO NOT USE ALUMINUM FOIL OR OTHER LINERS IN THE OVEN.
